Starting the Spanish Army of Estremadura

With the French army, and my Exams, done and behind me it is time to start the Spanish Army of Estremadure, led by the much maligned Cuesta.

In my plans the Spanish army at Talavera weighs in at just under 500 figures, and most of them a pretty rough selection of infantry, although to spice up the army I will be modeling Cuesta, who had been incapacitated in an earlier action, in a donkey drawn carriage, although the models for that have not arrived here yet. All the other figures have arrived however, and so I will be starting the way all products should begin. Line infantry.*

*Technically the first Line unit is done, owing to it being the unit I had painted for my French army, until I learned Joseph's troops real uniform. Instead I am technically painting a new unit for the French army which just had its Spanish Soldiers swap sides.
The Spanish Roster. Painted Troops Highlighted Green.*

Loyalist Spanish on the left, Josephino troops on the right.

In 10mm even an entire army can fit into half a dozen small plastic bags.

The Finished Army

After several months the army is finished at last.
618 figures and 16 Cannon are now ready to face the as yet non existent Anglo-Spanish army.

And now for some pictures.

The Penultimate Touches to the French Army

Having hit 600 figures, and having run out of bare lead to paint, I now await the final artillery pieces which will complete the army.

I will in this small update be only posting 2 pictures, one a quick image of the army on my shelf as it was a few days ago, showing the scale of the army, and the other an image of my attempt at hand painted flags.

These Standards are for the Spanish Troops of Joseph Bonaparte (an army rather commonly unmentioned by everyone) and the Badenese troops present at the battle. Hopefully I have done an adequate job with these flags and my enemies shall cower before them!

A Month without Updates: 500 Figures

Hey guys, so it's almost a month since my last update and I've covered a reasonable amount of ground.
Since that time I have reached the 500 figures painted mark, (503 currently to be exact), I'm not going to post whole army pictures until the whole army is completed however because it is so close now, just a few months at most.

A selection of units completed this month.

The 2nd Hussars, in all their glory

The 4th Baden Regiment - Sorry for the shaky camera work.

The 21e Dragoon Regiment.

WIP first base of the mighty Vistula Legion. I know the Czapka is incorrect for the Vistula Legion at Talavera, they should be in Shakos, but the extra character for this elite unit was too much to resist, And I think it looks good.
That's all for this update,
Thanks,
xccam

Spanish and Germans, The allies so far.

No post for a while so I thought I'd update on my progress.

Currently have 347 (55.70%) figures painted, including all of the Spanish troops (pics below).

As well as the Spanish I have painted up a unit of Westphalian Chevaux and a base of Confederation of the Rhine infantry. I don't like my Confed infantry, but I love the Chevaux's uniforms.

Next up, finishing the Confed infantry, followed by either Polish infantry or some artillery which I've been putting off.

PICTURES OF THINGS MENTIONED

The Confederation Infantry I'm not so sure about.

300th figure

I painted the 300th figure in the French army at Talavera today, and will pass the 50% mark in the next couple of days. The army is building up at a slow and steady pace and will be finished, all things remaining on course, within the next couple of months. Picture of army list progress below:

As well as that I'm quite pleased with the current progress on King Joseph Bonaparte's Spanish troops, who can be seen here:

Hopefully you will agree that the Spaniards are looking fairly smart, even if they aren't a strong force in the battle!

Hopefully my big Pendraken order will arrive before I burn through all the troops I've got left in the backlog, which is starting to look less and less like a backlog seeing as how few troops there are.

The Spanish Are Coming!

Today my package arrived from Magister Militium containing the Spanish troops I need to make up Joseph Bonaparte's Spanish Reserve division at Talavera.

These packs will comfortably make up the Spanish Infantry, Cavalry and Artillery bases of Josephs division. The Magister Militium sculpts seem really nice and detailed, however they have a lot of flash and such which needs cleaning up before painting than the Pendraken figures I have been using for my French figures.

I have so far painted up 1 base of the Spanish cavalry and like to think they have come out quite well, and I think they will look nice ranked up and based.

I was warned that Magister Militium sculpts might be slightly larger than Pendraken's, however they seem to be just fine to my eye.
